Program Foundation

The strength of our futurity lies in the quality and commitment of our stallion owners. The foundation of our program is built upon their annual participation through stallion nominations, which directly support the growth, promotion, and excellence of the Appaloosa halter horse.

Stallion Nomination Options

Option 1: One-Year Enrollment

  • Stallion Nomination Fee: $1,500
    Due by January 15 each year
  • Includes:
    • Featured advertisement on the official futurity website
    • Monthly dedicated posts across our social media platforms

Option 2: Two-Year Enrollment

  • Year 1: Stallion Nomination Fee: $1,500
    Due by January 15
  • Year 2: Stallion Nomination Fee: $1,000
    Due by December 31 of year 1.
  • Includes all benefits from the One-Year Enrollment plus a reduced rate for signing a two year enrollment contract.

Eligibility

Foals registered with the Appaloosa Horse Club and sired by ApHC and AQHA stallions enrolled in the Appaloosa Breeder’s Halter Futurity.

2026 Nomination:

  • 2026 Foals (weanling class)
    • Eligible for 2027 Yearling Class
  • 2025 Foals (yearling class)

2025 Nomination:

  • 2025 Foals
    • Eligible for 2026 Yearling Class
  • 2024 Yearlings

Flexibility & Inclusion

To foster an inclusive environment that supports all who are committed to the advancement of the Appaloosa halter horse, the Futurity Board of Directors may consider alternative payment arrangements under extenuating circumstances. These accommodations will be approached with fairness, discretion, and a shared commitment to strengthening our industry partnerships.

Mare or Foal Owner Responsibilities

Registration Requirements:

All horses must be registered with the Appaloosa Horse Club. Foals born without Appaloosa color or characteristics must have a performance permit issued for all registration numbers beginning with an (N).

Foal Nominations (2025 Foals)

The Futurity Board of Directors has voted to suspend nomination fees for all 2025 foals sired by a futurity-eligible stallion. This decision was made to promote accessibility and encourage widespread participation in the futurity’s inaugural year under the new organization.

Note: The Board of Directors reserves the right to reinstate foal nomination fees in subsequent years.

Futurity Classes at the Appaloosa World Championship Show

Futurity classes will be held the day prior to the start of the Appaloosa Halter Events and will include the following divisions:

Weanling Classes

  • Non-Pro Weanling Fillies
  • Open Weanling Fillies
  • Non-Pro Weanling Colts & Geldings (combined)
  • Open Weanling Colts & Geldings (combined)

Yearling Class

  • Non-Pro Yearlings (all sexes combined)

Entry Fee: $425.00 per class
Office Fee: $30.00 per horse

Important Rule:
The Futurity Champion of any Non-Pro or Open Weanling class is ineligible to compete as a Yearling in the following year’s futurity program.
